Mary is the Founder and lead contributor at Social Alterations and a PhD Candidate at the University of Edinburgh (Sociology). With experience in human rights, workers’ rights, global governance, corporate non-compliance, & environmental security, she is committed to affecting change on a global scale, creating & disseminating interdisciplinary knowledge that supports that change. Mary holds an MA in Integrated Studies a BA in International Development Studies and a Diploma in Textile Art. In 2009 she won the international award Fashioning the Future through the London College of Fashion for her visionary research into “Systems for a Sustainable Fashion Industry”. | As Co-Founder of Social Alterations, Nadira brings her outstanding insight and experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the apparel industry to the table. Nadira has a PhD from City University of Hong Kong, where she is currently based. She holds an MA in Social Science with a concentration in Development Studies from City University of Hong Kong, where she outlined the current CSR trends in China’s supply chains, graduating with distinction at the top of her class. She also holds a BA from McGillUniversity, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Economics and Sociology. Her current research is focused on CSR in the fashion and textiles industry. |

Maughan Pearce
Social Alterations Designer in Residence (2012)
In February, 2012, Maughan Pearce joined the SA team for a 10-week research placement as part of her studies at Sheffield Hallam University. During the 10-week placement, Maughan was instrumental in helping to build our SAGE Module. In her work and research, Maughan supports design driven solutions to the socio-political, cultural and environmental challenges found throughout fashion value chains, and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board.
